Blue Ridge Volunteer Rescue Squad Receives State Grant: The Blue Ridge Volunteer Rescue Squad was pleased to receive notification on January 5th, 2010 that it has received a 2010 Rescue Squad Assistance Fund grant through the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services. The grant is a 50/50 match to purchase a Zoll E-Series 12-Lead Defibrillator. This device will increase the level of care the Blue Ridge Rescue Squad is able to offer. The E-Series monitor is amongst the most advanced technology available and will assist our providers in assessing cardiac function. The 12-lead capability will enable some heart attacks to be identified in the field, enabling those patients to receive lifesaving treatment faster. The value of the grant exceeds $11,000. The squad is responsible for providing the matching funds necessary to purchase the monitor.
